Spotlight News:

  • The Red Bluff Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the American Lung Association passed smokefree event policies for the Saturday and the Wednesday Farmers’ Markets. (Red Bluff, CA)
  • The Downtown Chico Business Association in partnership with the American Lung Association passed a smokefree event policy for the Thursday Night Market. (Chico, CA)

Smokefree Events

The ALA is helping community events go smokefree in Shasta, Butte, Tehama, Glenn, Colusa and Yuba counties.

Smokefree policies protect attendees, staff and vendors from the dangers of secondhand smoke. They make it safe for everyone in the community to attend, even for people with lung conditions like asthma or COPD which are worsened by secondhand smoke.

Smokefree Colleges

Smokefree campuses allow students to learn and grow in a healthy environment and protect staff and faculty from secondhand smoke in their workplace. In California, more than 85 colleges have smoke or tobacco free policies1. The ALA is helping community college campuses in Shasta, Tehama, Butte and Glenn counties go smokefree as well.

The ALA is collaborating with health care facilities in Tehama, Glenn, Colusa and Yuba counties to adopt smokefree policies because a health care facility should be a place that supports health for all.
