Online Support Community

The American Lung Association has a free online lung cancer community on called Lung Cancer Survivors for individuals who are living with lung diseases and their caregivers. Individuals register to join the community. Members can choose their level of participation and engagement. This online lung cancer forum is a place for members to discuss how lung disease is affecting them and share their life experience with their peers.

Better Breathers Club

Better Breathers Clubs teach you ways to cope with lung diseases and provide lung cancer support from others who share in your struggles. These lung cancer support groups give you the tools you need to live the best quality of life you can.

Better Breathers Clubs meet regularly and feature educational presentations on a wide range of relevant topics, including:

  • How lung cancer affects the lungs
  • Breathing techniques
  • Exercise
  • Talking with your doctor
  • Medications and other treatment options
  • Medical tests
  • Supplemental oxygen
  • Home health care
  • Finding resources in your community
  • Protecting your lungs

If you feel alone and isolated, these lung cancer support groups can help. It feels good to talk with others who understand. Being able to speak freely within a trusted and supporting group can positively impact your health.

Ask your healthcare team about any other lung cancer support groups in your area. Often patients receiving treatment at the same facility will start a lung cancer support group. Check out your local resources!
