CHARLOTTE, NC | September 26, 2020
Tonight, more than 200 people wined and dined from home as a part of the American Lung Association in North Carolina’s LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting presented by Novant Health. The event raised more than $75,490 to fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative.
The event included a live wine tasting, local gourmet food from Rare Roots Hospitality, $1,000 Diamonds Direct raffle and silent auction. The Turquoise Tasting also featured the LUNG FORCE Honors campaign, which recognized lung cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare workers, advocates and others who help ease the burden of lung cancer in North Carolina.
“Due to concerns surrounding the global pandemic, we quickly pivoted to a virtual event this year, but still saw a tremendous outpouring of support and participation from the local community,” said Jennifer Hall, executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to all of our participants and sponsors who came together to make a difference in the lives of people facing lung disease, lung cancer and COVID-19.”
Money raised at the LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting funds the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung disease. It also supports the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative, a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
This year’s event was presented by Novant Health. Thank you to our local sponsors Landmark Builders, Merck, Rare Roots Hospitality, Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute, Davis Moore Capital, Diamonds Direct, Fionix Consulting, Mecklenburg Radiology Associates, Medtronic, Nuance, Rankin Wealth Management, and UNION.
