Micro-Engineered Tissue Model Unveils Key Mechanism in Pulmonary Fibrosis

This study discovered a potential mechanism of how pulmonary fibrosis develops using a micro-engineered tissue model. This is important because this powerful tool can now be used to test and develop anti-fibrosis drugs for pulmonary fibrosis, which is often fatal. Senior author Ruogang Zhao received a Lung Association Innovation Award to develop experimental models to screen anti-fibrosis drugs.
