This study found that a receptor called LMAN1 is linked to the allergic response to house dust mites, the most common sensitizer in asthmatic individuals. This is important because this sets the stage for future research to develop a therapeutic intervention targeting LMAN1, reducing the allergic asthma burden to dust mites. Senior author Justine Tigno-Aranjuez, PhD, was funded by the Lung Association Innovation Award for her work in allergic asthma and house dust mites.
