Fernando Martinez, MD, one of our Airways Clinical Research Centers (ACRC) Network principal investigators, contributed to a study of more than 5,000 children in the U.S. to understand how a common skin condition called eczema (or atopic dermatitis) affects kids over time. He and a team of researchers identified patterns associated with eczema during childhood, supporting the idea of an “allergic march,” where one allergic issue can lead to others. These findings can help doctors better identify, predict and manage allergy risks.
