Hey Wisconsin! Step Up for Clean Air and Healthy Lungs on National Take the Stairs Day

American Lung Association encourages residents to take the stairs and support lung health by signing up for the Fight For Air Climb

Wednesday, January 10 is National Take the Stairs Day, and the American Lung Association in Wisconsin is challenging residents to skip the elevator and take the stairs for clean air and healthy lungs. The community can further support lung health by registering for the Fight For Air Climb in Milwaukee, locally presented by Anthem Blue Cross & Blue Shield.

National Take the Stairs Day is an annual observance on the second Wednesday of January that gives Americans an opportunity to adopt healthy routines like taking the stairs. Stair climbing is a great way to burn calories but is also a simple way to improve your overall health.

“Many people make resolutions to adopt healthier habits in the New Year, so National Take the Stairs Day is a fantastic way to kick off those goals as well as exercise your lungs,” said Megan Cordova, Executive Director for the Lung Association. “We’re also inviting residents to lace up their shoes and join us for our Fight For Air Climb in Milwaukee at 411 E. Wisconsin Center on Saturday March 9. It’s an opportunity to feel great while raising critical funds for lung health!”

The Fight For Air Climb in Milwaukee is designed for every type of participant, from beginners to competitive climbers and first responders in full gear. Participants determine their own pace as they climb 30 floors to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for lung disease.

More than 744,000 residents suffer from lung disease, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Participation in the Fight For Air Climb provides critical funds to help the American Lung Association work to end lung disease and save lives through research, education, and advocacy.
