TAMPA, FL | November 12, 2020
Today, the American Lung Association in Florida announced that the 4th annual Lip Sync For Lungs will take place on January 21, 2021. The event, which typically takes place at Palladium Theater at St. Petersburg College, was reimagined as an interactive live stream experience.
For the event, local celebrities execute lip sync performances to songs of their choice, all to win the top spot of Lip Sync “LIVE BATTLE” Champion. Former Lip Sync Battle Champions include Team WellCare (lead by Duenna Dorsett) and Team Tampa Bay Business & Wealth Magazine (lead by Bridgette Bello).
“This year’s event will feature some fun and very entertaining local celebrity performances,” said Steven Riddle, executive director of the Lung Association. “During this challenging time, it is more important than ever to support lung health. We are proud that funds raised will help our ongoing efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support our new COVID-19 Action Initiative.”
This year’s celebrity lineup is yet to be announced, but the event emcee and celebrity judges include:
- Don Germaise: Former anchor and reporter for ABC Action News in Tampa. He will be the event emcee as well as a celebrity judge.
- Maureen Famiano: CEO of MEF Media.
- Charles Latibeaudiere: Co-host of the nationally syndicated TV show TMZ.
Money raised at the Lip Sync For Lungs will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
