Iconic Fight For Air Climb Returns to Bank of America Plaza on April 6

American Lung Association invites the Gulf Coast community to make every step count in the fight against lung cancer and lung disease

Here in Florida, more than 2.7 million people live with lung disease, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. To help fund its work to end lung disease and save lives, the American Lung Association announced that it will host the iconic Fight For Air Climb Tampa, presented by Raymond James, at Bank of America Plaza on Saturday, April 6.

“For nearly two decades, the Gulf Coast community has stepped up to help raise awareness and funds for their family, friends and neighbors who are living with lung disease,” said Beth Ash, chair of the Lung Association’s Gulf Coast Florida Board and custom business initiative manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “It’s a fun and inspiring way to support people who fight for every breath. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

This year marks the 19th anniversary of the Fight For Air Climb Tampa, the premier stair-climbing event on the Gulf Coast. The climb is designed for every type of participant, from beginners to competitive climbers to first responders in full gear. Participants determine their pace. With 42 floors and 914 steps, Bank of America Plaza is the perfect setting for a day of fun, challenge and camaraderie.

Ash added: “We’re encouraging the community to join us and build momentum as we continue to our milestone 20th anniversary. Together, we can achieve a future free of lung disease and lung cancer.”

Participation in the Fight For Air Climb Tampa supports the work of the Lung Association to defeat lung cancer, improve the air we breathe, reduce the burden of lung disease on individuals and their families and eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases.

Registration for the Fight For Air Climb Tampa is now open for individuals and teams, which can include friends, families, companies and organizations. For more information, visit ClimbTampa.org.
