Gulf Coast Bike Trek Returns on October 5

The second annual fundraiser along the Pinellas Trail caters to cyclists of all levels, families and kids

The American Lung Association in Florida will host its Gulf Coast Bike Trek on Saturday, October 5. The Trek, which made its debut last year, features a metric century ride for avid cyclists and a 10-mile ride for families and children. It’s a fun event that celebrates life and healthy lungs, with a focus on supporting children’s lung health. The Trek benefits the Lung Association’s efforts to save lives.

“Pediatric pulmonary diseases, like childhood asthma, take a toll on our most vulnerable. Here in Tampa, more than 33,000 children have been diagnosed with asthma, and it is a leading illness-related reason why students miss school,” said Dr. John Prpich, pediatric pulmonologist and member of the Gulf Coast Local Leadership Board. “We’re inviting our Tampa Bay community to join us and make every mile count.”

The Gulf Coast Bike Trek is designed for cyclists of all experience levels—from veteran cyclists to novice riders and families. It offers three scenic courses along the Pinellas Trail: a 62-mile metric century ride, a 40-mile ride and a 10-mile family ride. All rides are out and back. The Trek features top-notch rider support, plentiful rest stops and an unforgettable party at the finish line with food, music and more.

Registration is $25 for the 10-mile family ride and $40 for the 62-mile and 40-mile rides. There is a $200 fundraising minimum to participate. For more information, and to register, visit GulfCoastBikeTrek.org.
