American Lung Association Names New Chair and Chair-Elect to Southwest Leadership Board

The American Lung Association has added two prominent business leaders to top positions of its Southwest Leadership Board. In welcoming Wendy Lawson as Chair and Chris Haworth as Chair-Elect, the Lung Association further extends its commitment to delivering its mission to save lives by preventing lung disease and protecting lung health throughout the Southwestern United States.

“It truly is a pleasure to welcome both Wendy Lawson and Chris Haworth as Chair and Chair-Elect of our Southwest Leadership Board,” said Tammy Rocker, Executive Vice President for the American Lung Association. “The financial and public health expertise they bring to the volunteer leadership of our operations in the region are both needed now, and vital to our growth and ability to serve more Americans at risk for or suffering from lung disease.”

Wendy Lawson is the Director of Allied Health for the Oklahoma Heart Hospital System. She holds a Masters of Public Health focused in Epidemiology and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Wendy has been an American Lung Association volunteer for over 10 years and joined the Local Leadership Board 8 years ago. She has been a key-note speaker and/or guest lecturer for the Critical Care Consortium, Rose State College, Speech-Language Pathology Board, University of Oklahoma School of Medicine and many others. Wendy is a wife and mother of two wonderful kids and she enjoys art, travel and many outdoor sports.

Chris Haworth currently provides financial and strategic counsel to Xcel Energy as Associate Vice President, Revenue Requirements. Based just outside Denver, CO, Chris brings a career of solid financial planning and strategy to the Southwest Leadership Board. Previously, Chris was Vice President and Controller of Time Warner Telecom, Inc. and held the Corporate Controller position for Tyco/ADT Security Services, Inc. Chris graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Business Administration.
