Republic Plaza on Colorado's Top 5 Must-Climb List?

Maybe not, but Lung Association reminds Coloradans there are only weeks left until annual Fight For Air Climb, March 1st

Republic Plaza may not be on Colorado’s ‘top 5 list for climbers,’ but the American Lung Association is challenging Coloradans to climb the states’ tallest skyscraper for a great cause.

The 2020 Anthem Fight For Air Climb at Republic Plaza takes place Sunday, March 1st. B-roll is available for you to download and use here. The Fight For Air Climb invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of Republic Plaza, 56 floors, and 1,098 steps, to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.

“Stair climbing is a phenomenal way to stay active during winter months, as it provides a fun activity for families, team building for corporate teams and a fundraising activity for students or organizations,” said Ellen Penrod, Executive Director of the Lung Association. “The Fight For Air Climb brings the community together to fight for something that impacts us all – clean air and healthy lungs.”

In Colorado, more than 640,000 people suffer from lung disease and this year alone, it is estimated that more than 2,300 residents will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking and its underlying epidemic.

Registration for the 2020 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 303-388-4327. Registration is $35 until February 29 and $40 on event day.
