ATLANTA, GA | October 13, 2020
On Monday, October 19, the American Lung Association in Georgia will kick off their first-ever Scavenger Hunt, called the Puzzle Walk, through the city of Decatur. This is part of their virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk event, which raises money to end lung disease and address COVID-19.
The American Lung Association Puzzle Walk was created in collaborate with Clue Town, local company that creates professional ready-to-solve puzzle hunts. When someone signs up for the Puzzle Walk, they receive a packet of puzzles that they will solve with information found at local checkpoints. Each puzzle solution will reveal directions to the next destination.
“We are so excited for our first-ever Puzzle Walk, which is a fun adventure for families this fall. It can be done while adhering to social distancing guidelines and is entirely outdoors,” said Rochelle Smalls, executive director of the Lung Association. “We encourage participants to enjoy the journey, so remember the sights, sounds and fresh air as you complete our Puzzle Walk.”
On top of the scavenger hunt, the Lung Association is hosting the virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk from now through November 30. Previously, the event was held at Historic Fourth Ward Park, but was reimagined as an exciting virtual experience to promote social distancing.
Money raised at the Virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk and Scavenger Hunt will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
The Puzzle Walk runs from October 19 through November 30. Registration for the Puzzle Walk is $35. Residents can get more information and register at the Atlanta LUNG FORCE Run/Walk website.
