Walkers Raise More Than $175K at LUNG FORCE Walk in Wheaton’s Cantigny Park

Nearly 700 people laced up their gym shoes and took to the trails of Cantigny Park in Wheaton this morning for the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Walk, presented by Northwestern Medicine Canning Thoracic Institute.

Walkers strolled along a scenic 2-mile trail to help more than 1.5 million Illinoisians living with lung disease and raised more than $175,000.

“I am grateful to every walker and spectator who joined us today and proud that, together as a community, we celebrated those impacted by lung disease while helping advance the fight against lung cancer, the nation’s leading cause of cancer deaths,” said Michelle Hartwig, executive director of the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago. “Together, we raised more than $175,000 in critical funds to help save lives and improve lung health, because if you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

The Lung Association looks forward to next year’s LUNG FORCE Walk and to continuing its commitment to improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
