Louisville Fire Leads Way, Raises More than $80K for Lifesaving Research in Fight For Air Climb Since 2014

Dozens of Louisville area firefighters, emergency responders to stair climb Lynn Family Stadium on March 24

Leading the way is the Louisville Fire Department (LFD), who earned national recognition recently for their heroic rescue of a semi-truck driver on the Clark Memorial Bridge.  Teams of first responders make up eight climb teams participating in the American Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb at Lynn Family Stadium on Sunday, March 24.

The Louisville Fire Team has participated every year since the Fight For Air Climb Louisville began in 2014. Led by Captain Kyle Fekete, a Louisville Climb Ambassador and inaugural Climber, LFD has raised more than $80,000 over the 11-year history of the event.

“The Lung Association is incredibly grateful and proud of the Louisville Fire Department who’s participated in all 11 years of the event. Under the leadership of Captain Kyle Fekete, LFD has always been the largest or highest fundraising firefighter team for consecutive years,” said Deena Adams, Executive Director of the Lung Association in Kentucky.

Registration is still open for the event which returns to the state-of-the-art Lynn Family Stadium where participants can stair climb up to 1,200 stairs. There are multiple options to participate. Options include:

  • Regular Climb (1,228 steps)
  • Half Climb (757 steps)
  • Extreme Climb (111 minutes)
  • Stadium Stroll (on the level)
  • Firefighter & Emergency Responder Challenge

More than 696,000 people in Kentucky suffer from lung disease. Funds raised from the event will support the Lung Association’s efforts to improve lung health and prevent lung disease through lifesaving research, education and advocacy.
