The American Lung Association of Florida is pleased to announce that Blue Heron Wealth Advisors of Raymond James has stepped up to be the presenting sponsor of the Annual Fight For Air Climb Jacksonville. This is the 18th year the organization has sponsored the family-friendly event which takes place on Saturday, March 21st at the Bank of America Tower.
Participants of all fitness levels, ages 8 and up, will climb 37 floors or 734 steps to the top of the tower to raise awareness and critical funds for programs, research, and services to help more than 2.8 million people living with lung disease in Florida.
“The Fight For Air Climb is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together as a community to raise money for education and research to help end lung disease,” said Winton Mays, Financial Advisor at Blue Heron Wealth Advisors of Raymond James. “We are honored to be the presenting sponsor of this year’s annual event, which helps bring awareness to the Lung Association’s mission.”
This year’s climb will once again feature a friendly Firefighter Challenge with more than 5 firehouses from across the suburbs competing for the best time.
Firefighters are regularly exposed to smoke, gases, chemicals, and other substances that can be damaging to their lungs, putting them at an increased risk for lung disease. The lung health effects from firefighting include lingering cough, hoarseness, asthma, and bronchitis. Extreme cases include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung and bronchial cancers.
“Our Climb gives people a chance to quite literally step up and help find a cure for lung disease, and we are deeply grateful for Blue Heron Wealth Advisors of Raymond James’ support,” said Cindy Springer, Development Director of the American Lung Association in North Florida. “We’re excited for the community to come together and help raise the nearly 2.8 million residents living with lung disease.”
The first wave of climbers will begin making their way up the Bank of America Tower at 8:20 a.m..
Registration for the Fight For Air Climb Jacksonville is $35 online and $50 on event day and includes a $100 fundraising minimum. For more information, and to register, visit ClimbJax.org.
