The American Lung Association in Indiana’s 11th annual Evening of Promise Gala: Celebrating Imagination and Innovation aims to be a good time for a good cause. This year’s one-of-a-kind event presented by CVS Health will be held at Newfield’s LUME in Indianapolis on Saturday April 13 to raise funds and awareness about lung cancer.
Doors open for mixing and mingling at 6pm and attendees will be invited to a VIP reception featuring the art of Salvadore Dali. Guests are encouraged to accent their looks with the essence of Dali and will be able to browse galleries after the program.
Purdue University’s Dr. Philip Low, who is a Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and a Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry-Biochemistry, will also be honored at the gala.
He will receive Legacy Award, which is given to people or organizations that done something meaningful to end lung cancer.
For more than 45 years, Dr. Low has worked on designing targeted imaging and therapeutic agents for the diagnosis and treatment of molecules for cancer therapeutics to help those fighting lung disease.
“I am very grateful to the Lung Association for this recognition,” Low said. “I share this award with my research team here at Purdue. We are all passionate about our research into finding life-preserving remedies for lung cancer and all other cancers, as well as many other diseases that threaten lives around the world.”
More than 922,000 Hoosiers are living with lung disease and the festive event will raise awareness and money to support lifesaving research, local programs, and advocacy across the state of Indiana.
“This is our eleventh year holding the Evening of Promise Gala and we’re excited to have the community come out to support us and lung health,” said Tanya Husain, Executive Director, Lung Association, Indiana. “The funds raised will support the Lung Association’s efforts to improve lung health and prevent lung disease for Hoosiers across the state.”
Organizers hope to raise $400,000 this year and tickets can be purchased on the lung association’s website at EveningofPromise.org.
