Lung Association’s “Breath of Motherhood Award” Dinner Celebration Raises Over $160K

The Lung Association honors mothers who inspire change and champion lung health at home, work and within their community!

Strength, Love, and Health. More than 180 people gathered for an unforgettable evening at The Ivy Room Chicago on November 5 to honor three women leaders and mothers at the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago’s 2025 Breath of Motherhood Awards, presented by UChicago Medicine.

The annual event shined a spotlight on the vital role mothers play in their communities as leaders, guardians, mentors, and caregivers while balancing demanding professional careers. Attendees raised not only their voice but critical funds for lung health with over $160,000 to support the Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.

This year’s honorees included:

  • Mary Cook - Market Lead & Senior Partner, Korn Ferry
  • Kim D. French (MHA, CAPPM, FCCP) - Global Strategic Market Developer, Ion Intuitive
  • Mary Ann Korenic - Chief Executive Officer, Wintrust Private Trust Company

“Every year, more than 1,300 women – mothers, daughters, sisters, friends - in the Chicago-area lose their battle against lung cancer. The critical funds raised through the Breath of Motherhood Awards Dinner help our ongoing efforts to support lifesaving research, bring hope to families across our community by raising awareness, and empower families to breathe easier” said executive director Danielle Trojanek. “We are deeply grateful to our attendees for celebrating our remarkable Honorees and for their support and commitment to the American Lung Association’s mission.”

Funds raised at The Breath of Motherhood Awards will help more than 1.8 million people in Illinois living with lung disease and promote clean air initiatives for all.
