Today, the American Lung Association announced that Keith Tyrka has joined the organization as chief information & technology officer (CITO).
“Keith’s collaborative leadership style, deep experience and focus on aligning technology with mission impact make him a tremendous addition to our leadership team,” said Lung Association President and CEO Harold Wimmer. “As public health and our dedication to its preservation have never been more important, we welcome Keith’s expertise and contributions.”
Tyrka brings over 25 years of experience in technology, data, strategy, cybersecurity and digital transformation to the role, and has worked in the nonprofit, education and private sectors. Most recently, he was vice president of planning, performance and technology at the College of DuPage, Illinois’ second largest undergraduate institution, overseeing information technology (IT), data analytics, enterprise applications and security.
Previously, Keith spent over a decade at Aunt Martha’s Health & Wellness as vice president, chief information officer (CIO) and HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) security officer, leading technology modernization, data strategy and cloud migration for the large nonprofit healthcare and child welfare agency. He has also held technology leadership roles at DirectBuy and FirstGroup America.
Tyrka has a master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in information systems, both from DePaul University. He also holds numerous professional certifications. Most recently, he obtained a certificate in Generative AI for Business Transformation from Cornell University.
