Fight for Air Climb: Hundreds of Rhode Island Residents to join the American Lung Association to Raise Funds and Awareness for Lung Disease at the Omni Hotel

Local First Responders and Firefighters to Climb with 50lbs of Gear

Here in Rhode Island, there are more than 150,000 people living with lung disease, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and others. To help fund work to end lung disease the American Lung Association in Rhode Island will host the Fight For Air Climb Providence at the Omni Hotel in just one month, on April 27, 2024.

Registration is now open to teams and individuals at FightForAirClimb.org/Providence

This is the 16th year of the Fight For Air Climb Providence. For the event, participants will climb 348 steps up to the top of the skyscraper. The event also invites area firefighters and first responders to participate in the Firefighter Challenge, climbing the steps in full gear to raise critical awareness for occupational exposure and increased risk for lung disease in first responders.

“Our Fight for Air Climb events are for anyone and everyone that wants to raise awareness for lung disease,” said Daniel Bowler, executive director of the Lung Association in Rhode Island. “In Rhode Island, we are especially proud to have our firefighter and first responder community participate in the event, to remind the world that lung disease is a critical issue for so many heroes and their families. We are proud to climb alongside them as we work for a world free of lung disease.”

Joining the Fight For Air Climb supports the work of the Lung Association to defeat lung cancer, improve the air we breathe, reduce the burden of lung disease on individuals and their families, and eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases.
