Climbers Raise over $250K at The Pru for Lung Health

410 people climbed 99 floors in Lung Association event to help find cure for lung disease

This morning, 410 people raised over $250,000 (and counting) at the 2026 Fight For Air Climb Chicago, locally presented by UnitedHealthcare. The event supports nearly 1,5 million people living with lung disease in Illinois.

Climbers of all skill levels raced up both towers of The Pru for a total of 99 floors and 2,448 steps to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

“Thanks to the determination of our supporters and climbers we raised over $250,000 to help ongoing efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease in Illinois,” said Michelle Hartwig, Executive Director, American Lung Association in Greater Chicago. “We are very grateful to everyone that came out to support lung health and so proud of the funds raised.”

The Lung Association looks forward to next year’s Chicago Climb, as well as the LUNG FORCE Walk in Wheaton in October and the Breath of Motherhood Awards in November, to continue improving lung health and preventing lung disease…. because if you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.
