CHARLOTTE, NC | December 4, 2025
On the evening of Thursday, November 6, more than 150 guests joined the American Lung Association in North Carolina’s 10th annual LUNG FORCE Charlotte Turquoise Tasting, presented by Novant Health. The event, which was held at Carmel Country Club, raised nearly $125,000 to fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer through lifesaving research, early detection initiatives and advocacy.
“Thank you to our guests, volunteers and corporate partners for making our 10th anniversary event an unforgettable night that has fueled our lifesaving mission,” said Lauren Love, executive director for the Lung Association in North Carolina. “The funds we’ve raised will fund groundbreaking research into new cures and treatments, as well as programming and services to help people live healthier lives. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in North Carolina and across the U.S. Someone is diagnosed with the disease about every two minutes. But there is hope. Thanks to increased awareness and advancements in detection and treatment, more people are surviving lung cancer than ever. The survival rate has increased by more than 44% in the last decade and is now nearly 30%. Funding research, encouraging lung cancer screening and reducing stigma around the disease saves lives.
LUNG FORCE is an initiative that unites those impacted by lung cancer, including survivors, caregivers and loved ones. The LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting also serves to highlight the stories and lung health advocacy of community members as they make their stand against lung cancer.
Thank you to our LUNG FORCE Charlotte Turquoise Tasting sponsors, including Turquoise Presenting Sponsor Novant Health, Gold Sponsor AstraZeneca, Silver Sponsor Mecklenburg Radiology Associates, and Bronze Sponsors Providence Anesthesiology Associates, Rankin Wealth Management, Dickens Mitchener Real Estate, Novocure and Biodesix. Special thanks to our LUNG FORCE Cabinet: McCay Manwaring, Juleidy Turnipseed, Sarah Neils, Madeline Hughes, Shawna Walker and Josephine Hauser.
