Today, the American Lung Association in North Carolina announced that three local business leaders have been elected to the Local Leadership Board of Directors. During the July 28th meeting, the Charlotte Leadership Board approved the FY21 Board slate, as well as elected Jessica Graham as the Board Chair.
The Lung Association’s Local Leadership Board of Directors, which has 10 members, helps lead the organization in its mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The purpose of the Board to is raise the Lung Association’s profile in the community, advocate for lung health, and increase resources to fund local programs and services. Board members impact the work of the Association’s programs and services, public policy, research, and revenue generation.
“Markus, Sophia and Jodi will be incredible assets to our local work at the Lung Association. Their insight and experience are critical to our work in the community,” said Jennifer Hall, executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to the service of these individuals, as well as our full Leadership Board, we are helping North Carolina residents breathe a little easier.”
The new elected Leadership Board members are:
- Markus Hill, Chief Information Officer at Rodgers Builders
- Sophia Matthews, Director of Digital Communications for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools
- Jodi Strong, Vice President of Hospital Based Medicine Institute at Novant Health
Graham, who was named Board Chair, is the president of Fionix Consulting LLC, a firm she started in 2017. At Fionix Consulting, she consults with corporations, small businesses and nonprofit organizations, providing strategic communications and community outreach counsel.
The Lung Association in North Carolina conducts much of its work with money raised at fundraisers throughout the year. This fall, the organization will host its annual Turquoise Tasting event, which will be re-imagined to promote appropriate physical distancing. The Lung Association is also planning its annual Barks and Bluegrass event for later this year and Fight For Air Climb in spring 2021. Learn more about local fundraising events at Lung.org.
