Lung Association’s “Lip Sync For Lungs” Returns to Charleston Music Hall on February 29

The live, lip-syncing fundraiser celebrates its 8th anniversary by serving up hits from the ‘80s

This Leap Day, the American Lung Association in South Carolina will be hosting the 8th installment of Lip Sync For Lungs at Charleston Music Hall. The one-of-a-kind fundraiser, presented by Audi Charleston, supports the Lung Association’s lifesaving mission in South Carolina and beyond.

Lip Sync for Lungs Live Battle VIII: Totally ‘80s! will feature local celebrities performing lip sync and dance routines in an epic showdown to win the title of Lip Sync Battle Champion. This year’s lineup includes:

  • LaFaye Benton – U.S. Army vet and frontwoman of Rock-Soul band, LaFaye & the Fellas
  • Erin Lok – Stand-up comedian and Second City alumna
  • Anna Krepelka – Owner of Charleston Lash & Brows and event record spinner at “Soul 45s With Anna”
  • Julianne “JuJu” Taylor – Owner of Julianne Taylor Style and business coach, product designer and content creator
  • Geoff Richardson – Owner of Lava Salon and co-founder and six-time emcee of Lip Sync for Lungs

“For the past eight years, our epic Lip Sync for Lungs Live Battles have infused renewed energy into fundraising events, revolutionizing the conventional event format. Lip Sync For Lungs has become a staple charity event in our community raising critical funding for local health programs, lung disease research and advocacy for healthy air initiatives across the state,” said Lori DeNicola, owner of Petaloso and event chair. “Grab your neon, tease your hair and travel back to the ‘80s with us on Leap Day for an uplifting, uproarious event that supports a great cause. Because when you can’t breathe, nothing else matters.”

Investment in lung health is especially important in South Carolina. More than 102,000 people in the Charleston area suffer from lung disease, including lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. Asthma is both the leading cause of hospitalizations in children and the number one cause of missed school days in the state. Funds raised by Live Battle VIII will help fund the American Lung Association in South Carolina’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease through local programs, advocacy efforts and research.

The Lip Sync Live Battle Winners Circle includes: Francesca DiSalvo-Follmer (Pure Luxe Bride) & Drew Pond (Dock House Digital), Kyle “K’Otic” Johnson, Bryan Mahanes (Other Brother Entertainment), Robert Beall, DMD (James Island Family, Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry), Susan Pearlstine, Dr. Yanis Bellil (Roper St. Francis Healthcare) and Lance Oliver (Motley Rice Law Firm).
