Assistant Majority Leader Camille Lilly Honored with American Lung Association Impact Award

Assistant Majority Leader Camille Lilly Assistant Majority Leader Camille Lilly was honored with the American Lung Association in Illinois Impact Award on Wednesday, April 15, for her leadership in advancing tobacco prevention and control, improving lung health, and promoting health equity across the state.

Presented at the Illinois State Capitol, the award recognizes leaders whose efforts have improved lung health and led to reductions in lung disease.

During Leader Lilly’s leadership, Illinois has strengthened smokefree protections, closed loopholes surrounding e-cigarettes, raised the tobacco sales age to 21, expanded access to lung cancer screening, and increased investments in prevention and cessation programs.

“Leader Lilly has consistently put public health first and understands the real-world impact of tobacco use and lung disease on families and communities,” said Michelle Hartwig, Executive Director, American Lung Association of Greater Chicago. “The American Lung Association is grateful for the Leader’s tireless leadership to ensure that everyone in Illinois can breathe easier.”

Lilly was recognized alongside Lung Association advocates participating in the Lung Association’s Annual Illinois Advocacy Day.

The Impact Award honors sustained leadership and a long-term commitment to advancing lung health in communities throughout Illinois.
