American Lung Association Comments on California Adoption of Advanced Clean Trucks Rule

In response to today’s California Air Resources Board vote to approve the landmark Advanced Clean Trucks rule, American Lung Association President and CEO Harold Wimmer shared the following statement:

“Today, we celebrate the bold direction set by California in adopting the Advanced Clean Trucks rule to transition the trucking sector to zero-emission technologies in California and beyond. The American Lung Association supports the widespread and rapid shift to zero-emission transportation as vital to improving lung health and saving lives.

Too many low-income communities and communities of color are exposed to unhealthy air quality from the diesel truck traffic of nearby freeways, ports, warehouse distribution centers and other diesel hot spots. Everyone deserves to breathe clean and healthy air, and the Lung Association calls on other states to follow this lifesaving policy that moves the trucking sector toward zero-emission solutions.”
