Fighting For Air: Atlanta Community Raises $150K for Lung Health

More than 400 people—including 150 firefighters—participated in American Lung Association’s 19th annual Fight for Air Climb at Promenade Tower

This morning, during the American Lung Association’s 19th annual Fight For Air Climb Atlanta, more than 400 community members and lung health advocates from across the metro area climbed 40 floors to the top of Promenade Tower, one of the state’s tallest skyscrapers. More than 150 area firefighters climbed in turnout gear. The event has raised nearly $150,000, and counting, to support the Lung Association’s lifesaving research, programming and advocacy for the nearly 1.6 million Georgians living with lung disease.

“We are grateful to everyone who came out today to support loved ones, friends and neighbors who are impacted by lung disease and fight for every breath,” said Dr. Jannifer Harper, chair of the Lung Association’s Georgia Leadership Board. “Thanks to the dedication of our participants, firefighters and first responders, volunteers and sponsors, we’ve raised $150,000 to save lives—with more funds still coming in. Every step we’ve taken today will help us get closer to a future free of lung cancer and lung disease.”

Funds raised from the Fight For Air Climb Atlanta support the mission of the Lung Association and its efforts to defeat lung cancer, champion clean air, improve the quality of life for those with lung disease and their families and create a tobacco-free future.

Thank you to our local sponsors, including City of Hope Atlanta, Northside Hospital Cancer Institute, Raymond James, Circulogene, Wellstar and Caire. Thank you to our National Corporate Team Partner, Kindred Hospitals.

The Lung Association has continued admiration for all our local firefighters and emergency responders and is thankful for their continued support of the Fight For Air Climb.
