Today, the American Lung Association announced its 2022-2023 national board of directors and officers. The volunteer board, which was elected on June 25 at the national board meeting in Chicago, provides management and governance in support of the Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
“This year’s directors have extensive experience in many areas, including medical, legal, financial and philanthropic sectors, so we are proud to have these individuals help lead our organization’s critical work to end the burden of lung disease in the U.S.,” said Harold Wimmer, national president and CEO of the Lung Association. “In the last year, the Lung Association took big steps in achieving our mission, including funding $12.6 million in lung disease research grants, working to increase access to lifesaving lung cancer screening, advancing critical tobacco control measures, and educating millions of Americans about COVID-19. Under the leadership of our new Chair, Cheryl Calhoun, and our other fantastic board members, we are eager to further expand this work and save more lives.”
