American Lung Association Welcomes Release of 9/11 Air Quality Documents

Greater transparency around air quality conditions in the weeks and months following the September 11th, 2001, terrorist attacks is critical for New Yorkers, first responders and others who may have been affected.
 

"As we approach the twenty-fifth anniversary of the September 11th attacks, the release of these documents by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is an important step forward. Accurate air quality data is imperative for the public to be able to make choices to protect their health," said Michael Seilback, Assistant Vice President, Nationwide Advocacy, American Lung Association.
 

The release of this information represents another important step towards increasing public understanding of the short term and potential long-term health impacts associated with exposures in Lower Manhattan following the attacks.
