Cyclists Return to Ride for Clean Air and Healthy Lungs for the American Lung Association’s 42nd Annual Trek Across Maine.

Registration is open for Maine’s biggest and best family reunion—a three-day, scenic ride welcoming 1,000+ participants June 19-21, with a new gravel ride option

Registration is open for the American Lung Association’s celebrated Trek Across Maine, now in its 42nd year. Known as Maine’s biggest and best family reunion, the event, takes place over Father’s Day Weekend each year and will once again start and finish at Pineland Farms in Gloucester, Maine. About 1,000 participants are expected to take part in the three-day, 180-mile ride, scheduled for June 19-21. With a fundraising goal of $750,000, it brings cyclists together for a weekend of community, challenge and purpose.

Known for its fun, welcoming atmosphere, the Trek Across Maine brings people together for a memorable weekend on the road while supporting lung health and clean air for or more than 240,000 Maine residents and over 35 million people nationwide living with lung disease. For many participants, the three-day ride also offers a rewarding physical challenge, an opportunity to stay active, explore Maine’s scenic landscapes, and take on an adventure with purpose. New this year, participants can also choose a gravel ride option on Sunday, June 21, featuring either a 25 or 50 mile route that starts and finishes at Pineland Farms and concludes alongside the three-day Trek celebration.

The Trek Across Maine is a fully supported ride, with rest stops, route support, entertainment, and food along the way. Participants will continue to enjoy many of the event’s most loved traditions, including music, games, beer from local breweries, a baked potato bar, and a finish line celebration, plus returning favorites like Team Tent City with plenty of lawn games, music and beer.

Register for the Trek Across Maine, visit TrekAcrossMaine.org. Registration is open until May 20, 2026.

Since its debut in 1985, the Trek Across Maine has raised more than $32 million to support the American Lung Association’s work to improve lung health. The event aims to raise $750,000 annually to fund lung disease research, advance clean air initiatives, and support tobacco free advocacy efforts. Funds raised also help support education and programs focused on lung cancer, COPD, asthma, vaping prevention, lung cancer screening, and asthma education and control in schools.

The Trek Across Maine offers riders flexibility, with 1, 2, or 3 day options available. Overnight stops will be at Bates College and St. Joseph’s College, with three-day riders returning to Pineland Farms on Sunday for the finish line celebration. Highlights include the baked potato bar at Bates College, pizza from Portland Pie, Team Tent City, featuring lawn games, music, beer, and more.

The event is suitable for cyclists aged 7 and up. Children ages 7–12 must ride a tandem or tag‑a‑long bike with an adult guardian. All participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult guardian on the route at all times.

For those who prefer to participate without a bike, volunteer opportunities are also available.

Participants can also join the Trek Across Maine virtually. Virtual Trekkers can record miles from their own neighborhoods or stationary bikes and raise funds at their own pace. Those who meet the fundraising minimum by June 30, 2026, will earn a commemorative t-shirt and medal.

Registration is open at TrekAcrossMaine.org with a $50 registration fee. Participants commit to fundraising minimums based on their participation option, including a $550 minimum for the three-day ride ($400 for ages 7–17) and a $250 minimum for virtual participants. Registration will close May 20, 2026.
