Camila B., PR

At 25 years old, I was focused on becoming a physician. Lung cancer was the last thing I expected to hear when I walked into a doctor's office.Like many young adults diagnosed with lung cancer, I didn't fit the stereotype. I was young, active, and had my entire future ahead of me. Because of my age, some of my symptoms and concerns were not always taken as seriously as they should have been. Eventually, I received the diagnosis that changed my life: non-small cell lung cancer. My journey has included surgeries, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation, and ongoing treatment. But cancer did not take away my purpose.Today, I use my experience to advocate for lung cancer awareness, patient empowerment, and earlier recognition of symptoms in young adults. Through interviews, podcasts, social media, and community events, I share my story to remind others that lung cancer does not discriminate by age.As a survivor from Puerto Rico, I am especially passionate about expanding education and resources for Spanish-speaking communities. Too many patients feel isolated because they cannot find information, support, or stories that reflect their experiences. My goal is simple: to ensure that no patient feels invisible.Every time I share my story, I hope someone recognizes a symptom sooner, asks another question, seeks a second opinion, or finds hope during a difficult moment.I was diagnosed with lung cancer at 25 years old.Today, I am still here, using my voice to help others find theirs.
