R B., TX

I’ve had asthma as a child. I’ve lived in small “towns” which by the most recent census rules are our ally urban areas most of my life except for a few years in elementary in the late 80s and early 90s when we lived in round rock and Austin, TX. I lived mostly in Rockdale, TX— with all that Alcoa pollution in our air all the time, now in Burnet, Co, with mines, fires, automobile, etc. pollution in our air constantly.

Our air quality here in Texas sucks! If you have any kind of respiratory / lung issues, either wear a mask 24/7 or just skip a water trip here (you really aren’t missing anything). I’m in my mid 40s and both my allergist and pulmonologist say my lungs are so messed up from the pollution I’ve been breathing in from those areas that my lungs at mid-40s is what they are taught in med school/residency /etc. to expect a 70+ year old to have.

Pull up Texas on the air pollution chart— you’ll see next to no reported information. That’s BS. We are dying of lung conditions out here and this state being run by stupid republicans who cater to businesses just turns a blind eye to its people.
