About the National Outstanding Mother Awards
The National Mother’s Day Committee is an entity of the Father’s Day/Mother’s Day Council, and exists for the sole purpose of conferring outstanding mother honors on contemporary lifestyle leaders of our society. The Father’s Day/ Mother’s Day Council is an nonprofit organization and funds raised by annual awards presentations are channeled to family-related philanthropies.
The National Mother’s Day Committee is dedicated to enhancing the meaning of Mother’s Day and to encouraging its universal observance. Founded in 1941, the committee has, since 1978, devoted its efforts towards delivering a message of traditional values and sound family relationships, while providing charitable support to programs that aid children and families in need.
Mother’s Day was officially established in 1908, when less than 3% of mothers were employed outside the home. Today, more than 75% of mothers with school-age children have to juggle time and priorities in order to manage the home and workplace. The designation of the Outstanding Mother Award honors all mothers—at home, at work, and in nations around the world.
