The Breath of Motherhood Awards, formerly the Outstanding Mother Awards, is an American Lung Association celebration that honors extraordinary women who exemplify leadership at home, in their careers, and throughout their communities. Rooted in the belief that mothers are often the heart of healthy families and powerful advocates for change, the Breath of Motherhood Awards recognizes women who balance professional success with meaningful community impact while inspiring others through their strength, compassion, and service. Celebrated in both Chicago and Honolulu, the events shine a spotlight on remarkable mothers whose influence extends far beyond their own families.
More than an awards program, the Breath of Motherhood Awards is a fundraising and awareness initiative that supports the American Lung Association’s mission to improve lung health and prevent lung disease. Proceeds help advance lifesaving research, public education, advocacy, and early detection efforts, particularly in the fight against lung cancer. The annual event brings together business, civic, and community leaders to celebrate outstanding women while investing in a healthier future for families.
