Anita Oruche, a seasoned professional in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility, is renowned for her unwavering dedication and accomplishments in the field. Recognized as a 2023 Notable Leader in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by Crain’s Chicago, Anita is a subject matter expert, showcasing her prowess in DEIA, supplier diversity, cultural programming and community engagement.

With a background that includes an MBA from Colorado Technical University and a bachelor's in communication from Judson University, Anita brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role. Her strategic thinking and analytical acuity have empowered her to implement cost-effective solutions supporting DEIA initiatives, leading to tangible results and positive change.

Anita's commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion is evident in her professional journey. As the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility at Navy Pier, Anita was instrumental in developing Navy Pier's first-ever DEIA Strategic Plan and Community Engagement Strategy. Her leadership extends to overseeing Navy Pier's DEIA Committee, implementing workforce diversity practices and forging authentic partnerships to eliminate the racial wealth gap in Chicago.

Anita's impactful contributions also extend beyond Navy Pier. During her tenure at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she served as the Director of Inclusion and Engagement in the Athletic Division. Here, Anita oversaw executive boards, established diversity fan engagement initiatives and led the Equity Diversity Council, contributing to a notable increase in retention.

As the Executive Director of Financial Aid at UIC Law, Anita played a pivotal role in the acquisition between UIC and The John Marshall Law School. Managing a substantial financial aid budget, she developed programs for first-year law students and actively participated in creating ERGs and scholarship funds, leaving a lasting impact on student success.

Throughout her professional journey, Anita has consistently demonstrated her commitment to excellence, operational efficiency and inclusivity. She has impacted the lives of students and communities, leaving an indelible mark on the organizations she has served.
