Glenda M., SD

I feel very fortunate to be able to share my story about lung cancer. My diagnosis came quite unexpected since I am a nonsmoker. It began when I developed a cough during a time when other's were having similar coughs.

As the cough continued a viral infection lead to CT scans of abdomen and eventually a chest CT. This resulted in a chest biopsy and ultimately surgery. I am thankful for insurance coverage that has allowed me to receive screenings and excellent care. I am grateful everyday for excellent physicians, hospital facilities and advanced medical equipment.

A recommendation was made by my oncologist to have our home tested for radon. The levels were significantly high which prompted installing a radon mitigation system.

I cannot emphasize enough how important having screenings and early detection are. Research, air quality awareness and smoke free environments enable everyone to have better outcomes.
