Peripheral airway dysfunction in obesity and obese asthma

This study found that some patients with asthma who are obese suffer from significant peripheral airway dysfunction, which is not detected by typical spirometry testing. This finding is important because it will help develop advanced testing methods to detect and treat obese patients with asthma who suffer from advanced peripheral airway disease. Co-Authors Anne Dixon, MD and David Kaminsky, MD, are ACRC investigators.
