Open burning is allowed with flimsy restrictions and fire department will only cite individuals if the complainer can give them an address. Burning usually starts at dark and reeks. 20 years I've been in Greenwood and not relief. Many areas in this densely populated County are not municipalities so county officials turn away from air quality complaints. Regulations are written so they don't have to enforce them. City limits back up to county unincorporated areas. Cities have burn ban but county is lax because a very few residences are rural and the county officials think it's OK to look away.
