Help Us Defend Healthy Air: On June 30, the Supreme Court limited EPA’s authority to regulate greenhouse gases from coal and oil-fired power plants. We were one of the parties involved in this case. Unfortunately, the ruling means that EPA now has fewer tools it can use to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants. However, EPA retains clear authority to address air pollution and climate change, and one immediate opportunity is to make much-needed updates to national air pollution standards. The agency is currently considering strengthening the National Ambient Air Quality Standards for particulate matter and you can encourage them to finalize a stronger standard that will protect health. Please sign this petition today and share. It is more critical than ever that we make our voices heard and do all we can to fight for healthy air.

In addition, many e-cigarette companies, including the one currently most popular with kids, PuffBar, had been taking advantage of a loophole that exempted synthetic nicotine products to continue to sell kid-friendly flavored e-cigarettes. On July 13, that loophole was closed due to a law passed in March; now we need FDA to enforce the law. Read more

In June, the FDA also announced a plan to reduce the amount of nicotine in cigarettes, making them less addictive. Reducing nicotine to non-addictive levels in cigarettes is an important step forward for public health, and we urge FDA to extend this proposal to include all tobacco products, including e-cigarettes. Read more
