Understanding Early COPD

This study found that the current definition of COPD, which is solely based on breathing tests, does not fully capture changes in early disease, such as excess mucus production and lung damage. This is important because we need to better identify those at early risk of developing COPD and develop treatments to stop progression of the disease.
