Single-inhaler triple therapy fluticasone furoate/umeclidinium/vilanterol versus dual therapy in current and former smokers with COPD: IMPACT trial post hoc analysis

This study found that a triple therapy of inhaled drugs was the most effective in COPD patients who quit smoking, compared to patients who currently smoked, which is potentially due to relative corticosteroid resistance in people who currently smoke. This is important because while the treatment helped regardless of smoking status, the effect is greater in those who quit. This was a from the ACRC IMPACT study, which explored this new once-daily inhaler treatment combining three drugs.
