Predicting severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease exacerbations using quantitative CT: a retrospective model development and external validation study

This study established new CT-based prediction models to identify patients with COPD at high risk of severe exacerbations. These biomarkers are important to enable further studies into the mechanisms responsible for COPD exacerbations. Co-author MeiLan Han, MD, is an ACRC investigator and volunteer medical spokesperson for the American Lung Association and Dr. R Graham Barr, MD, DrPH, was awarded the COVID-19 Respiratory Virus Research Award.
