Kynureninase Upregulation Is a Prominent Feature of NFR2-Activated Cancers and Is Associated with Tumor Immunosuppression and Poor Prognosis

This study found that an enzyme called kynureninase is a reliable marker of tumor immunosuppression in lung adenocarcinoma, and high levels of this enzyme indicate poor prognosis and survival. This is an important discovery of a biomarker that could help with early detection of many cancers and will lead to future research in the therapeutic potential of targeting this enzyme.  Co-author Edwin Ostrin, MD, PhD, was funded by the Lung Cancer Discovery Award.
