Longitudinal transitions in initiation, cessation, and relapse of cigarette smoking and e-cigarette use among US youth and adults: Validation of a microsimulation model

This study developed a new prediction model that incorporated smoking and e-cigarette use transition rates, and accurately projected the likelihood of long-term impact of use. This is important because it provides a foundation to estimate and test how potential tobacco and e-cigarette policies impact behavior and clinical outcomes. Senior author Krishna Reddy was awarded the Lung Association Innovation Award for their work in evaluating the impact of e-cigarette policies.
