This study showed that non-tobacco users who transition to e-cigarette use have increased respiratory morbidity, including symptoms of wheezing and coughing. Also, tobacco cigarette users who switch to e-cigarettes have no improvement in their symptoms. This is important because it reinforces the dangers of e-cigarette use, even as a method to quit traditional tobacco cigarettes. Senior Author Andrew Stokes, PhD, was funded by the Lung Association Public Policy Award.
