This study found that positive messaging improves self-reported asthma symptoms, but this is not affected by obesity status. This is important because it likely means that differences in treatment effects between obese and non-obese patients are unlikely to be due to a placebo effect, and thus highlights that obese asthma patients may have different physiological responses to treatments. This study was performed by the Lung Association Airways Clinical Research Centers (ACRC).
