Jazz Pharmaceuticals to Sponsor Jacksonville LUNG FORCE Run/Walk on October 14

The American Lung Association is pleased to announce that Jazz Pharmaceuticals has signed on as Presenting Sponsor of the 10th annual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk in Jacksonville. The family-friendly event will take place on Saturday, October 14 along the St. Johns River at Haskell. The festive fundraiser drives the Lung Association’s efforts to improve lung health and prevent lung disease through lifesaving research, education and advocacy.

“We are grateful to Jazz Pharmaceuticals for their crucial support as we commemorate the 10th anniversary of our LUNG FORCE Run/Walk,” said Chris Gonzalez, chair of the Lung Association’s Jacksonville Local Leadership Board of Directors. “We value their partnership and shared vision in a future free of lung cancer and lung disease.”

The LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is a 5K route along the St. Johns River designed for all fitness levels. The event is open to individuals, families and company teams. The vendor village will feature a DJ, a photo booth, food and more.

“We encourage the Jacksonville community to join us to take bold strides to save lives,” Gonzalez added. “Funds raised will support local services, programs and research throughout Florida.”

More than 200,500 people in the Jacksonville area suffer from lung disease, including lung cancer, COPD and asthma. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. In Florida, it is estimated that more than 19,300 people will diagnosed with lung cancer this year, and nearly 10,200 people will die from the disease.

However, there is hope. More Americans than ever are surviving lung cancer. The survival rate has increased by nearly 40 percent in the last decade. Funding research, encouraging lung cancer screening and reducing stigma around the disease is the key to unlocking a future free of lung cancer.
