Nikki Patel & Team PharmacyLuv Named Tampa Lip Sync For Lungs Battle Champion

Lip Sync for Lungs event raises $40,000 to end lung disease, COVID-19

Over the Memorial Day weekend, the American Lung Association in Florida hosted the 5th annual Lip Sync For Lungs, and Nikki Patel & Team PharmacyLuv took home the trophy after their performance of Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”, raising over $5,000 through community voting and donations for their performance. Overall, the event raised more than $40,000.

For the event, four local celebrities executed lip sync performances to songs of their choice, all to win the top spot of Lip Sync LIVE BATTLE Champion. Patel, a community pharmacist, and her colleagues realize the importance of their role in the community and the seriousness that is required of their profession. “These past two years we’ve diligently tried to meet the needs of our patients and it has been a challenge for everyone. Finally, there is a light at the end of the tunnel and my pharmacy community team enjoyed celebrating with our Lip Sync for Lungs performance over the weekend.  It gave us a chance to shake off the past two years and have some fun,” shares Patel.

“After rescheduling more than once over the past several months due to health concerns, we were so pleased to hold this event in person at ZooTampa at Lowry Park.  We saw a tremendous outpouring of support and participation from the local community, and everyone was entertained by the electrifying performances,” said Steven Riddle, executive director for the Lung Association. “From show tunes to country, we had a great variety of performances. Thank you to all of our participants, judges, and sponsors who came together to make a difference in the lives of people facing lung disease, lung cancer, and COVID-19.”

Money raised at the Lip Sync For Lungs will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
