American Lung Association Recognizes 7 Straight Years of Investing in Public Health

Empower helps invest thousands to support Lung Association’s efforts in Kansas, Greater Kansas City
For Colorado-based Empower, helping people prepare for the future is their expertise. The company continues taking its own advice for the seventh consecutive year as it signs on as the presenting sponsor of the American Lung Association’s 2023 Fight For Air Climb at Children’s Mercy Park, home of Sporting Kansas City, on June 3.

“We help more than 1 million people in Kansas and Missouri who suffer from lung disease, but we can’t do it alone. From local corporate sponsors, like Empower, to individual fundraisers and participants in our events like the Fight For Air Climb, every dollar helps our community right here in the Greater Kansas City area,” said Linda Crider, executive director of the Lung Association. “With a partner like Empower, we’re able to fund asthma education, deliver lung cancer resources, advocate for clean air, life-saving research and help improve people’s lung health daily.”

Nearly 1.4 million people suffer from lung disease in Kansas and Missouri, and this year alone, it is estimated that 2,190 Kansas residents and 5,690 Missouri residents will be diagnosed with lung cancer. The Fight For Air Climb attracts hundreds of individuals, families and corporate teams to race up thousands of steps to raise awareness and funds to help end lung disease.

“Empower is proud to sponsor this year’s Fight For Air Climb through the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City. This is an exceptional event, which not only helps individuals fighting lung cancer, but it also brings awareness to the importance of clean air and educating the community about the prevention of lung disease,” said Steve Jenks, chief marketing officer at Empower. “This is a wonderful opportunity to support the Lung Association and help them continue to support the millions of individuals who benefit from their advocacy and commitment.”

Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised at the Climb goes directly to programs, services and research in Kansas and Greater Kansas City. Visit FightForAirClimb.org/KansasCity for more information and to register for the event.
