Sip and Savor: LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting Fundraiser Set for October 24

The American Lung Association will host its 9th annual LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting, presented by AstraZeneca, on Thursday, October 24 at Carmel Country Club. Guests will enjoy elevated food and beverage pairings, a silent auction, entertainment and more. The Turquoise Tasting raises funds for lifesaving lung cancer research, early detection initiatives and outreach in vulnerable communities.

“We’re encouraging the Charlotte community to join our LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting to celebrate advancements in lung cancer research and raise critical funding so that we can continue to provide help and hope to millions of people living with lung cancer and lung disease,” said McCay Manwaring, LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting event chair. “Together, we can save lives.”

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S., and anyone can get this disease. In North Carolina, nearly 9,000 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year alone. However, there is hope. More Americans than ever are surviving lung cancer. The survival rate has increased by nearly 40 percent in the last decade. Funding research, encouraging lung cancer screening and reducing stigma around the disease saves lives.

LUNG FORCE is an initiative that unites those impacted by lung cancer, including survivors, caregivers and loved ones. The LUNG FORCE Turquoise Tasting also serves to highlight the stories and lung health advocacy of community members as they make their stand against lung cancer.
