American Lung Association Responds to Latest Senate Healthcare Bill

Statement of Harold P. Wimmer, National President and CEO of the American Lung Association, in response to the latest Senate Healthcare bill:

"The American Lung Association strongly opposes the Senate's latest healthcare bill. Analysis from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), show 32 million Americans will lose health coverage under this bill, including those living with a lung disease. Additionally, CBO found the bill will increase premiums by as much as 50 percent. The American Lung Association calls on the Senate to reject this bill.

"The Lung Association has stated that any legislation must ensure that healthcare is adequate, affordable and accessible. Democrats and Republicans in Congress need to work together in a bipartisan effort to improve healthcare, as quality and affordable healthcare is vital for the health of all Americans, including the more than 32 million Americans living with lung disease. We stand ready to work with Congress on a bill that would both improve health outcomes and lower costs."
